Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Because this is a practice for people with eye conditions, legibility and robustness matter more here than anywhere.
What is in place
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading order, so screen readers can navigate the structure.
- A “Skip to content” link, full keyboard operability, and a visible focus outline on every interactive element.
- An accessible mobile menu with clear labelling, and a footer that carries the full site navigation without relying on scripts.
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to small screens, and tap targets sized for touch.
- Support for reduced motion: if your system asks for less animation, entrances become static and looping effects stop.
- The site remains readable and usable with JavaScript turned off.
- Colour combinations chosen to meet AA contrast, with meaning never carried by colour alone.
- Real, descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.
Known limitations
- Location maps come from Google and appear only if you choose to show them; their accessibility is outside our control. Each location also has a written address and a plain link.
- Links to scientific publications and hospital websites lead to content published by others, which may not meet the same standard.
- This statement is based on a self-assessment by the website’s developer; no independent audit has been carried out yet.
